Frequently Asked Questions

About you

No. You can travel solo, with a partner, or with friends or family members (as long as they fit the spirit and rhythm of the journey).

What matters most is mindset: openness, respect for others, and a desire for authentic cultural experiences in a small group.

Journeys are designed for travelers with normal mobility and good general health, not for extreme adventure seekers.

Each itinerary will clearly indicate the level of physical effort required (e.g. walking time, altitude, terrain) so you can choose the trip that matches your comfort level.

Yes, especially for those who want the comfort of an organized structure without feeling like part of a big anonymous group.

The small group size and coordinated activities make it easier to feel welcomed, while leaving enough space to be on your own when you wish.

Travelers who join Teekonda are typically 35 and older — professionals, frequent travelers and lifelong explorers who value depth over speed.

What unites the group is less a number than a shared curiosity and openness to the world.

No specific language is required. Our coordinators speak English plus at least one other European language, and most group interactions happen naturally without language being a barrier.

If a specific activity requires local language skills, this will be indicated in advance.

About our groups

The group is an essential part of the journey, yet it never defines it entirely.

Shared moments and thoughtfully designed group experiences create connection and context, while individual time and personal space remain integral to the rhythm of the trip. Participation flows naturally, allowing each traveler to engage at their own pace.

Groups are intentionally small, with a maximum of around 15 travelers per departure.

This size keeps the atmosphere intimate, allows for personalized attention, and makes authentic encounters with local people and places much easier.

Teekonda is not built around volume, speed or checklists. It’s built around time, context and connection.

Journeys unfold in small groups, following itineraries designed to go beneath the surface: places chosen for their meaning, not their popularity; accommodations selected for character rather than standardization; experiences guided by people who live the destination, not just explain it.

What emerges is something that sits outside both mass tourism and conventional luxury: a shared journey that feels personal, immersive and quietly transformative.

The core focus is on small, curated group departures, but private or semi‑private versions of some itineraries may be available on request.

In that case, the journey is adapted even more closely to your preferences, dates and level of privacy.

Accommodations and partners are chosen for both quality and character, not just for star ratings.

Boutique hotels, charming guesthouses and selected local providers are preferred when they enhance authenticity while maintaining the comfort standards expected by a premium, mature audience.

Solo travelers can request a private room for an additional single supplement, equal to 30% of the standard package rate.

If you’re open to sharing, we can also try to match you with another solo traveler, when available.

About the travel booking

Each Teekonda journey is designed around the destination, the season and the depth of the experience. Rather than fixed prices, what defines the investment is the level of care and detail built into every trip.

Small groups, carefully selected accommodations, local expertise, curated experiences and continuous support are integral parts of every journey. The cost reflects this approach: fewer compromises, more meaning, and the freedom to experience a place in an authentic and unhurried way.

If you’re looking for a trip built around discovery rather than discounts, you’re in the right place.

Teekonda journeys are designed to meet you at the destination, giving you full freedom in choosing how and when you arrive. International flights are therefore typically not included, unless explicitly stated for a specific itinerary. Travel within the destination is always part of the journey.

While daily breakfasts and personal travel insurance (up to a defined coverage limit) are included as standard, some meals, personal expenses and optional activities are intentionally left to personal choice. This allows each traveler to shape parts of the experience according to their own pace and preferences.

Every Teekonda journey is built as a complete experience rather than a collection of services.

You can expect thoughtfully chosen accommodations with a strong sense of place, seamless on-site mobility, and a selection of experiences and visits designed specifically for the journey. Throughout the trip, a dedicated coordinator ensures that everything flows naturally, leaving space for discovery rather than logistics.

Depending on the destination, journeys may also include privileged cultural access, local experts and moments intentionally designed to foster genuine connection within the group.

You begin by selecting your journey from the online collection and choosing one of the available departure dates. Before confirming your place, you can personalize the experience by adding optional activities — such as special excursions or unique local experiences — with the final price adjusting accordingly.

Once your selection is complete, you confirm your place by paying a refundable deposit (equal to 5% of the total package price, including any extras). The deposit is fully refundable up to 60 days before departure, or within 14 days from the booking date.

At the time of booking, you receive all essential information about the journey. Sixty days before departure, you will receive an email with a secure link to complete the balance payment, which is due within 15 days. After the balance is settled, your documentation is completed with insurance details and the contact information of the journey coordinator.

About one week before departure, you are invited to a private group with your fellow travelers and receive the final practical guidance needed to begin the journey smoothly.

Each trip has a minimum group size needed to guarantee departure.

If that number is not reached, you will be informed in advance and offered alternatives such as a different date, a different itinerary or a full refund according to the stated policy.

Because groups are small and itineraries are curated, departures can fill up quickly.

Booking a few months in advance gives you a better choice of dates and allows time to prepare flights and other practical details calmly.

Your deposit is equal to 5% of the total package price, including any extras. If you cancel 30 days or more before departure, the deposit — and the balance, if already paid — is refunded in full.

If you cancel between 30 and 15 days before departure and the balance has already been paid, 50% of what you’ve paid is lost, while the remaining 50% is compensated with a voucher of equal value.

Cancellations within 15 days of departure mean the loss of everything paid.

If Teekonda cancels a departure — for example if the minimum group size isn’t reached — you’ll be offered a different date, a different itinerary, or a full refund.

Basic travel insurance is included in the price of every journey.

On top of that, you’ll be able to choose a Plus or Premium coverage level for higher limits, depending on your needs and the destination.

You’ll need a passport valid for at least six months beyond your return date.

Visa requirements vary by destination and nationality — we provide specific guidance for each itinerary once you book.

The balance is due within 30 days of departure, though you’re welcome to pay earlier.

Some special offers — for example a 50%-discount promotion — require full payment at the time of booking.

Because they’re built differently. We work only with boutique hotels and characterful properties — never standardized chain accommodation — and curate premium, small-scale experiences with local experts instead of generic group excursions.

Every departure stays capped at a small number of travelers, which means more attention, more flexibility and a pace that never feels rushed.

That level of care costs more to deliver, but it also means fewer compromises: better locations, better guides, better access, and a journey that feels considered rather than assembled.

If you’re comparing on price alone, we’re probably not the cheapest option — but if you’re comparing on quality and depth of experience, that’s exactly where the difference shows.
